Build Capability Where It Matters — at Work

The ATHE Level 4 Certificate in Workforce Performance Development supports supervisors and line managers who want to improve the way learning and performance are managed in the workplace.

Through three focused units, learners examine organisational learning needs, team performance and individual performance. The programme is designed to connect professional learning with real workplace evidence and practical management activity.

How assessment works

Practical, Portfolio-Based Assessment

Assessment is completed through a portfolio of evidence linked to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit.

Evidence may draw on genuine workplace activity while protecting organisational and personal confidentiality.

Examples may include learning-needs analysis reports, team performance plans, meeting records, individual development plans and review or support records.

Flexible Delivery with Clear Structure

Learning is supported through a clear structure, accessible guidance and regular academic contact.
Learners receive clear assessment briefings, portfolio guidance, formative feedback and support with professional writing, evidence selection and referencing.

Two Audiences. One Commitment to Progress

Stronger performance conversations

Develop a more structured approach to expectations, monitoring, feedback and support.

Learning aligned with workplace needs

Use organisational information and stakeholder input to identify development priorities.

Shared management practice

Cohort learning can help managers use more consistent language and approaches across teams.

Practical outputs

Where permitted, assessment evidence can include analyses, plans and records with workplace relevance

Entry requirements

Applicants should normally be working as a supervisor or line manager, or have access to an appropriate workplace context that enables them to generate the required evidence.
A Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience is normally expected.

Progression

Successful completion can support progression to further study in business, management or related professional areas, subject to the entry requirements of the receiving programme or institution. It may also support development into broader management responsibilities.
